I grew up in the beautiful city of Caracas in Venezuela. That is where part of my heart will always be. When I was seventeen I wanted to move to the US to learn English….long story short, I ended up in Manhattan. No, not the big apple…the little apple located in Kansas. I quickly fell in love with that little town. Another long story short, I ended up staying in the US and eventually ended up In Florida.
As a little girl, I was always curious. I would take electronics apart and put them back together because I wanted to see how it worked. I was creative, but not so much in the art sense. I loved science…I loved solving “problems” and figuring things out. That led me to a career as an Industrial Engineer. A career I still love.
It wasn’t until I became a mom to my boys that a need to be creative in other ways was suddenly awakened. I spent my little bit of free time jumping between sewing, design, photography, cooking, illustration, writing…. you name it. Then I started painting. My father, an avid painter from the Basque region, introduced me to the art of Sumi-e. My mother, originally from Zaragoza, operates a gallery in Venezuela that supports established and emerging Latin American artists. It felt like all the stars aligned…and that was a big “ah-ha!” moment. I found YOU! That’s where my heart belongs. The rest as they say, is history.
When I’m not working or spending time with my family you will find me covered in paint, with a sketchbook or simply dreaming about the next time I’m alone with the canvas.
