Janet Harrell, a North Carolina native, graduated from Meredith College in 1979 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. She was an Art Teacher in the Wake County School System – sharing her love of art with thousands of students – for over 30 years. She is now retired from the school system and works full time in her studio. Her work has won awards in local juried shows, and she is represented in private collections in NC, SC and VA. Janet’s art is characterized by an energetic and painterly style with lush color. Her subject matter is abstracted figurative with a focus on a vintage shape.
“I like to explore the unseen attachments that we all have: to each other, to our pets, to a place, to a specific time or thought, connections that can be felt. Every person has them. Some are more obvious than others. Something unites us that is invisible. These connections can be fragile or strong. They can be seen as a gentle gesture or powerful emotion that fills our soul. We are all connected. My hope is for the viewer to connect with the feeling of my art but also to think about their connections on this planet. Love, Peace and Light”
